Super Soccer is a video game adaptation of the sport, presented from a top down perspective. The field scrolls using the console's Mode 7 graphical capability.
Players can engage in a single match or undertake a longer tournament structure. This tournament consists of sixteen consecutive games, culminating in a final match against the Nintendo Allstar Team. The challenge increases as the tournament progresses, with later opponents being hard compared to the easy early matches.
Progress in the tournament is supported by a password system. Winning a match provides a code that allows players to resume from that same point at a later time.
