Super Play Action Football is a 16-bit sports title that builds upon its NES predecessor. It retains the same three-quarters overhead view for its on-field action.
The game offers three distinct tiers of competition: high school, college, and professional leagues. While it features all 28 real NFL teams, actual player names are absent due to a lack of official player association licensing. The college mode incorporates elements like weekly rankings, conference-based schedules, and postseason bowl games. The professional mode includes a full season followed by a playoff structure.
