SOS Overview
SOS is a Super Nintendo game set aboard the luxury liner Lady Crithania on a stormy night in 1921. The vessel capsizes, creating a hazardous and disorienting environment where the player must escape before it sinks completely.
Players choose one of four characters, each with unique skills and backgrounds that influence the strategy required to succeed. The primary objective is to evacuate the ship within a strict one-hour time limit, while also attempting to rescue other survivors encountered along the way.
A central mechanic involves navigating the ship as it physically reorients, tipping and tilting to alter accessible pathways. This dynamic environment, combined with the need to guide less capable non-player characters past dangers, makes the overall experience challenging. The final outcome is determined by how many people are saved during the escape attempt.
Instead of a traditional life system, injuries result in a five-minute penalty deducted from the remaining time. Regardless of the player's immediate safety, the game ends when the countdown reaches zero.
