Psy-O-Blade Overview
Psy-O-Blade presents an anime-styled adventure set against a backdrop of future geopolitical strife. The narrative begins in the 21st century, where a New Communist Federation emerges alongside the existing free world and communist bloc. A global denuclearization pact leads this new power to create a formidable non-nuclear weapon named the Raiden satellite, prompting rival powers to develop their own orbital weapons and reigniting fears of planetary destruction.
This looming threat drives humanity to seek colonies on other worlds. In the following century, an experimental vessel, the Septemius 1, is dispatched to a star six light-years away. After the ship's main computer, Racoon, transmits an enigmatic signal, all contact ceases. The player assumes the role of seventeen-year-old Keith McDonnell, a crew member of the Septemius 2, who is sent to investigate the disappearance.
Gameplay involves navigating the environment with a cursor to interact with the world. Progress is made primarily through dialogue with characters and by inspecting or using objects found in various locations. The experience is structured around visiting different areas and making selections from a menu, with no traditional puzzles to solve, making its pacing fair and straightforward.
