Hydlide Overview
Hydlide is an action title incorporating role playing mechanics. The player assumes the role of Sir Jim, tasked with lifting a curse placed on Princess Ann by the demon Varalys, which has transformed her into three separate fairies. The kingdom's salvation depends on locating these fairies and ultimately defeating Varalys.
Gameplay involves navigating large outdoor regions and dungeon interiors, confronting various foes. Character progression is a key element, with the protagonist's capabilities improving over the course of the adventure. A distinctive combat system requires physical contact with enemies to attack, while strategic positioning is necessary to avoid being struck from the flank or rear. A single button toggles between offensive and defensive postures, and magical abilities provide additional means to overcome adversaries.
