Duck Hunt is a shooting game where players aim at moving targets within a time limit. The primary mode involves ducks that must be hit before they escape, with each round granting only three shots. A second player can influence the duck's flight path using a separate controller.
Progression requires hitting a sufficient number of targets while staying under a strict miss allowance. The game becomes challenging as later rounds increase the speed of the targets and reduce the permissible number of misses.
An alternate mode replaces ducks with clay pigeons, which must be shot before they vanish. This mode maintains the same three-shot limit and perspective, demanding two hits to advance to more difficult rounds.
