Gaiares Overview
Gaiares is a side scrolling shooter set in a future where Earth has become a polluted wasteland. A conflict arises between the space terrorists known as Gulfer, who seek to weaponize the planet's pollution, and the alien faction Leezaluth, who threaten to destroy Earth to prevent this.
The player controls Dan, Earth's last hero, who is tasked with eliminating Gulfer. His primary tool is the TOZ system, a unique orbiting device that can capture and utilize enemy weapons. This mechanic is central to progressing through eight stages of enemy forces and challenging large bosses.
The Leezaluth provide Dan with the TOZ system as part of an ultimatum, though their own reasons for not directly intervening against Gulfer are not detailed. The narrative establishes a scenario where the fate of the ruined planet hinges on this single pilot's mission.
