Ultima: Warriors of Destiny is a role playing game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It functions as a direct sequel, continuing the narrative and characters from its predecessor, Quest of the Avatar.
The player assumes the role of the Avatar, leading a team on a mission to rescue the missing Lord British from the Underworld. This quest involves navigating expansive landscapes and interacting with a large population of characters. A primary antagonist is the usurper Blackthorn, while the Shadowlords present a monstrous threat bent on destruction.
The game is noted for its substantial scope, utilizing over two megabytes of memory to create an experience designed to last for more than one hundred hours. Player progress, including score and position, is preserved using a long life lithium battery save system. The package included an 84 page full color hint book. The development was handled by the creators of the original award winning PC title.
