Shadow of the Ninja Overview
Shadow of the Ninja is a side-scrolling action title where players control one of two ninjas, Hayate or Kaede, in a cooperative mode for two players. Their mission is to liberate a futuristic New York City from the tyrannical Emperor Garuda, who has seized control.
The gameplay involves navigating five main levels, each subdivided into four stages filled with diverse enemies and culminating in a boss encounter. Character movement includes standard running and jumping, enhanced by ninja-specific abilities like hanging from platforms and performing acrobatic flips between levels.
Throughout the stages, players can collect power-ups from canisters. These items provide advantages such as increasing the reach of the primary sword or granting access to secondary weapons, which include throwing stars and a chain-linked grappling hook.
