Phantom Fighter is an adaptation of the 1985 Hong Kong film Mr. Vampire. The player controls a Chinese warrior who, accompanied by a pupil, travels through multiple towns.
These locations are inhabited by phantoms, which the player confronts inside buildings using a range of kung-fu techniques. Defeating these enemies yields special items that can restore health or improve combat abilities.
Interactions with various townspeople provide context and advance the narrative, helping to clarify the situation across the haunted settlements.
