Gotcha! The Sport! Overview
Gotcha! - The Sport! is a Nintendo Entertainment System game that uses the Zapper light gun. Its concept is derived from paintball, referencing a film with a similar theme. Players engage in a capture the flag scenario across three distinct environments.
Movement along the field is managed with the D-Pad on a standard controller, requiring one hand for the Zapper and another for the controller. The objective involves retrieving the opponent's flag and returning safely to your own base. A key strategic element is preventing the computer team from capturing your flag and scoring, which can be done by tagging the enemy carrier.
The experience is structured as a challenging score attack with no allies or power-ups, only occasional ammunition resupplies. Three difficulty settings modify enemy count and responsiveness. The game cycles through its woodland, urban, and snowy zones repeatedly until the player exhausts their lives, with each cycle increasing the opposition's effectiveness.
