Cyberball Overview
Cyberball presents a version of American Football set in a future where robotic teams have replaced human players. This change originated from human athletes using illegal bionic enhancements, leading to a complete overhaul of the sport's format.
The core objective remains advancing a ball, but it is now a heavy explosive device that grows progressively hotter. Possession switches to the opposing team if this bomb detonates, which occurs when its heat reaches a critical level. The device can be cooled by moving it past midfield, scoring, or losing it through a turnover. This creates a challenging layer of time pressure atop the standard football framework.
On the field, the game simplifies some traditional elements by omitting field goals and punts, with the only kick occurring during the opening play. Control of the robots shifts automatically between the quarterback and receiver during a passing play. When two people play, they work together on offense, with one handling throws and the other focusing on catches.
