Tecmo World Wrestling is a professional wrestling video game featuring ten original characters. Each wrestler possesses a distinct identity, such as Rex Beat as The British Star or Dr. Guildo as The Technician, and a full repertoire of signature moves.
Matches involve a variety of actions including running, climbing the turnbuckles, and exiting the ring. Combat mechanics allow players to execute moves like the Pile Driver and Cobra Twist, as well as environmental interactions like slamming an opponent into a ring post. The ability to pin an opponent or escape from a pin is central to securing a victory.
A unique training system allows for character enhancement before certain matches, where a wrestler's strength can be improved through three separate exercises. A text-based commentary system occupies part of the screen, providing a move-by-move account of the in-ring action.
