Hello Kitty World is a side-scrolling platform game where the player guides a young girl through eight levels. Her objective is to catch up to her brother, who is carried away by a large cluster of balloons.
Movement is handled by controlling a pair of balloons, which allows for floating rather than traditional jumping. Managing altitude is a key mechanic, requiring careful use of a button to ascend. The game presents a challenging pace as the screen continuously scrolls, forcing the player to maintain forward progress.
A separate competitive mode is available for two players. Using a link cable, each player attempts to force their opponent's character into environmental dangers.
