Monster Rancher Advance Overview
Monster Rancher Advance is an open-ended monster-raising simulation. The core activity involves planning a regimen of feeding, attribute drills, and specialized training to teach attacks, all while managing a finite starting budget. Funds for supplies are primarily replenished through success in tournaments, making the cycle of training and competition central to the experience.
Monsters are generated uniquely through a shrine interface where players input text strings. Initially limited to four characters, this capacity expands to eight as the player's trainer rank improves. The specific letters, numbers, or symbols used determine not only the monster's type but also its individual attributes, allowing for the creation of hundreds of distinct creatures.
While monsters do not die, they eventually reach a mandatory retirement. At this point, they can be utilized to strengthen future endeavors; retired monsters may join a coaching staff to improve the training of new ones or be combined to produce more powerful offspring. The game incorporates a storyline featuring both returning and new characters from the series.
A two-player mode is accessible via link cable with two game copies. This mode enables battles between players' raised monsters, along with the trading of items, in-game currency, and the monsters themselves. Players can also wager their items or cash on the outcome of these linked tournaments.
