West Phaser Overview
West Phaser is a Western themed light gun shooter originally bundled with a specific controller modeled after 19th century revolvers. The objective involves stopping outlaws across various locations to earn rewards or a Sheriff's badge.
Players select from a roster of notable Old West figures like Doc Holliday and Calamity Jane to confront antagonists such as Jesse James. The gameplay presents stationary screens where waves of cartoonish enemies, including bandits and cowboys, must be shot while avoiding harm to bystanders. A candle icon serves as a health indicator, making the experience challenging as numerous foes attempt to extinguish it.
Targeting a specific wanted outlaw triggers a visual cue on the interface, leading to a confrontation for a bounty. The title later saw a re release under the name Steve McQueen: Westphaser, adding compatibility for standard input devices despite no actual connection to the actor's roles.
