Treasure Trap Overview
Treasure Trap is an isometric action game where the player controls a diver exploring a sunken ship. The setting originates from a 1829 shipwreck, with the diver Howard Kelp searching for its gold in 1927.
Gameplay involves navigating one hundred rooms to collect gold bars while managing threats from local sea life. The character cannot fight directly but carries a limited supply of trained piranhas called "smart fishes" that eliminate all enemies in a room when used. These are rare, awarded after collecting eighty gold bars, so evasion through jumping or using objects as barriers is the challenging primary strategy. Objects can also be stacked to reach higher areas.
Resource management is key, with an air gauge that constantly depletes and must be refilled using scattered compressed air tanks. Progression is gated by doors that require geometric-shaped keys, which can be held in three inventory slots. The game permits saving progress after every fifty gold bars are collected.
