Rampart is a DOS title that merges strategic planning with direct artillery combat. Players engage in a cycle of constructing fortifications, deploying armaments, and engaging in bombardment against opposing forces.
The core loop involves defending and repairing a castle built from interlocking pieces, followed by an offensive phase. Later versions expanded the original arcade framework, which supported one or two participants, to accommodate three-player sessions.
