Oregon Trail II Overview
Oregon Trail II is a historical simulation that builds upon its predecessor's framework, blending adventure and educational components within a journey across Oregon. The experience is structured around managing a party's progress through varied terrain and settlements.
Character creation involves selecting a protagonist's occupation from numerous professions, each providing specific skill bonuses that affect outcomes during travel. These skills, such as medical knowledge or marksmanship, influence the resolution of random events and activities encountered on the route.
Preparation for the expedition includes setting a departure year from a twenty-year span, choosing a starting point and destination, and outfitting a wagon. Players also define their traveling companions by specifying their number, names, and ages.
Core gameplay retains supply management, trading, and navigation elements while introducing more interactive scenarios. The protagonist can now seek advice from other characters and choose different responses to events, expanding the strategic and reactive dimensions of the journey.
