Once Upon a Forest Overview
Once Upon a Forest is a DOS adventure game adapted from a 1993 animated film. The narrative centers on a quest by three animal characters, called Furlings, to locate curative herbs after a forest companion falls ill from a poisonous mushroom.
Players control a trio with distinct roles: Abigail, a mouse who leads the group; Russell, a hedgehog who carries inventory in his backpack; and Edgar, a mole who maintains a journal containing clues, a map, and schematics. The experience involves navigating more than forty animated screens, interacting with over twenty fully voiced characters, and solving puzzles by using collected objects.
While the source film emphasized ecological themes, the game's storyline is a more traditional adventure. Progression requires overcoming obstacles and utilizing the unique abilities of each character to advance through the world.
