NAM Overview
NAM is a first person shooter built on the Build engine, set during the United States military involvement in the Vietnam War. Players assume the role of Marine Corps Sergeant Alan Westmoreland, a soldier whose operational endurance is chemically enhanced and who is frequently assigned to high risk missions.
The gameplay involves navigating diverse environments, from dense jungles and underground tunnel networks to urban areas, while engaging enemy forces. Available equipment includes firearms like the M16 and M60, heavier weapons such as the M79 grenade launcher and LAW rocket, and tools like a mine detector for locating hazards. Enemy opposition incorporates infantry, snipers, armored vehicles, and environmental dangers like air strikes and mines, creating a challenging combat experience where AI allies provide limited support.
Beyond the single player campaign, the game features multiplayer combat across nineteen dedicated levels. These support various modes, including team based objectives and deathmatch, where participants can choose from different soldier classes.
