Settlers of Catan Overview
Settlers of Catan is a game where victory is determined by accumulating a set number of points, with the target varying by scenario. A player's current total and the required amount are visible during play.
Points are awarded through several methods, including the construction of settlements and their subsequent upgrade to cities. Founding a settlement in a new region provides an additional point. Other avenues to gain points involve holding specific achievements, such as controlling the largest army or establishing the longest trade route, as well as acquiring special victory point cards.
The win condition is only triggered during a player's own turn. If a player reaches the necessary point threshold on an opponent's turn, they must wait until the conclusion of their next turn to claim victory, provided no other player wins first.
