Fable (CD) Overview
Fable (CD) is a DOS game centered on a quest undertaken by the protagonist Quickthorpe. His initial objective, assigned by a village priest, involves retrieving four mystical gemstones to supposedly restore the world's habitability. Each gem is protected by a specific guardian that must be defeated.
The journey reveals a deeper narrative involving the Mecubarz, an ancient energy-based race that once enslaved humanity using advanced technology before departing. Quickthorpe uncovers that the gemstones are components of a key related to their secrets. He travels through diverse regions including the Frozen Lands, the Land of Mists, an underwater area, and the Land of Shadows to collect them.
Key characters include Ishmael, an ancient being who orchestrated the quest to obtain the Mecubarz secrets for personal immortality, and a Gorgon guardian who reveals this conspiracy. After assembling the key, Quickthorpe chooses not to give it to Ishmael. Instead, he uses it in a hidden chamber, triggering a technological interface that culminates in a surge of power through his body.
