BloodNet Overview
BloodNet is a DOS title that blends adventure gameplay with certain role-playing mechanics. The player assumes the identity of Ransom Stark, whose professional background can be defined at the start, leading him into a conflict with a powerful corporation and supernatural forces.
The narrative centers on Stark's affliction with Hopkins-Brie Ontology Syndrome, a condition contracted during his prior employment with TransTechnicals. His salvation comes from a prototype brain implant created by Deirdre Tackett, which stabilizes his mind after he is dismissed and left destitute.
His freelance work eventually results in a confrontation with a vampire coven, led by Abraham Van Helsing. As part of his compensation, Stark is turned into a vampire, but the neural implant allows him to resist complete transformation. His primary objective becomes thwarting plans to dominate both Manhattan and Cyberspace, while also seeking a cure for his own vampiric state before time runs out.
