AstroFire is a DOS shareware title that modifies the familiar Asteroids formula. The player faces hostile creatures rather than rocks, with the option to enable or disable momentum physics.
Registered users gained access to two additional episodes, titled Whirlpool of Death and Heart of Fire. These episodes feature distinct visual backdrops and introduce new enemy designs.
Gameplay includes defensive shields that prevent instant destruction from a single hit. Offensive capabilities are enhanced through the collection of two different weapon power-ups.
