Age of Sail Overview
Age of Sail is a real time naval combat game set in the historical period when tall ships were the primary vessels of war. Players command a sailing ship and engage in cannon battles against enemy fleets.
The game offers a campaign where you begin as an Ensign serving one of four nations: Britain, Spain, France, or the United States. Progression involves advancing through military ranks. Outside the campaign, approximately one hundred historical scenarios are available, with most based on conflicts like the Napoleonic wars and the War of 1812. These scenarios often place multiple ships under the player's control for a single battle.
Gameplay focuses on naval tactics, requiring consideration of wind direction and ship positioning to line up effective broadsides. Choosing the appropriate type of cannon ammunition is another key tactical decision during these engagements.
