Theme Hospital Overview
Theme Hospital is a simulation game structured around successive levels of hospital management. Players begin with an empty facility and must construct various rooms, determining their size and layout within the available space. These rooms range from basic diagnostic areas to specialized treatment centers for unusual ailments, which require correspondingly strange machinery.
Staff management is a core requirement, with different roles assigned to specific tasks. Doctors handle many clinics, but certain rooms need specialists or nurses. Support staff like handymen maintain the environment by cleaning and repairing equipment, while receptionists manage patient flow. Additional facilities such as staff rooms and research departments are necessary for operational efficiency and technological advancement.
The gameplay presents a challenging progression. As players advance, they encounter disruptive events like epidemics and VIP inspections that test their management. To accommodate growing needs, including more complex equipment, expansion onto adjacent land plots becomes possible in later stages.
