Top Gear 3000 is the final Super Nintendo installment in its series, shifting the racing setting to outer space. Players assume the role of a pilot competing across 48 tracks located on various planets in different star systems.
The game features a progression where later races become challenging. Earnings from each event increase, but so do the costs for vehicle components. An expanded upgrade system allows for the purchase of new parts, including tires, engines, and atomic turbos.
Progress can be saved using a password system. For multiplayer, a splitscreen versus mode supports simultaneous racing for up to four players.
