The Great Waldo Search Overview
The Great Waldo Search is a video game adaptation of the Where's Waldo book series. Its primary objective involves locating the character Waldo within large, detailed scenes before a timer expires.
Gameplay centers on directing a magnifying glass across the screen to interact with objects. Certain items, like a clock, extend the available search time, while others contribute directly to the player's score. Success in a stage requires finding both Waldo and a scroll, with Waldo needing to be discovered first.
The game presents several distinct thematic stages, each composed of six interconnected screens that form a continuous panorama. These include environments such as The Battling Monks and The Unfriendly Giants. A dedicated stage called The Land of Waldos is also available for selection separately.
Players can choose between two main difficulty settings. The challenging Expert mode removes the clock items that grant additional time, unlike the standard mode. In most stages, finding Waldo's dog, Woof, triggers a brief bonus game where points are collected.
