Tengai Makyō Zero Overview
Tengai Makyō Zero is a turn based role playing game where combat is presented from an over the shoulder perspective. Players control a party whose members can utilize physical attacks, magic spells, and individual special techniques during these encounters.
The setting is the ancient land of Jipang, which resembles medieval Japan but is divided into six countries under the influence of divine and demonic forces. The most dominant of these is the Ryu, or Dragon, Kingdom. Its newly crowned younger king is targeted for assassination by his elder brother, an act driven by the demon Ninigi who possesses the sibling's soul and seeks wider destruction.
This conflict draws in the protagonist, a village youth named Higan. After his home of Hikagi Village is frozen by the possessed king, Higan discovers he is destined to wield a mysterious Ancient Flame to liberate Jipang from Ninigi's threat. The narrative functions as a side story to the first three titles in the Tengai Makyō series.
