SeaQuest DSV Overview
SeaQuest DSV casts the player as a UEO officer who must first pass a training simulation before joining the crew of the titular submarine. The core loop involves piloting the seaQuest vessel to mission zones where specialized submersibles are deployed to complete objectives.
These underwater tasks are varied, encompassing rescue, salvage, exploration, and combat operations. A financial management layer is present, where mission success adds to a budget while property damage deducts from it. Funds are required to resupply weapons and purchase additional vehicles, making resource conservation a consideration in a challenging environment.
The player commands a diverse fleet of support craft. For speed and direct combat, the two-man Speeder and the agile, omnidirectional Stinger are available. Heavier utility functions fall to the Sea Crab, which can dock with other vessels and features tools for excavation, and the bulky Sea Truck, which transports objects and lays mines. Specialized roles are filled by the small Remote Probe for welding and repairs, and Darwin, an intelligent but defenseless dolphin capable of accessing confined spaces.
