Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball Overview
Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball is a baseball simulation for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It features a full league of fictional teams, organized into National and American divisions with names like the San Francisco Quakes and Boston Hornets. The only real-world athlete represented is Roger Clemens, who is a member of the Boston Hornets roster.
Gameplay involves direct control over pitching, batting, and fielding actions. As the pitcher, the user determines the speed, spin, and placement of the throw, and can also attempt to prevent runners from stealing bases. When batting, timing the swing correctly is necessary to make contact, with the option to let pitches go by. Defensive play shifts to a fielding perspective where the player controls the nearest fielder to retrieve the ball and make a throw, with the camera angle dynamically changing based on the ball's location.
The primary modes are Exhibition, for single games, and a Regular Season mode that includes playoffs. Progress in the season can be tracked via an in-game calendar and saved using a password system. The game also supports two-player competition for exhibition matches.
