Radical Rex Overview
Radical Rex is a side scrolling action game set across ten prehistoric environments. The player controls a skateboarding Tyrannosaurus rex whose mission is to free other dinosaurs from a magical curse.
Gameplay involves navigating levels using a combination of movement abilities, including jumping, kicking, and riding a skateboard to glide down slopes. Rex's primary attack is a fire breath, though some resilient foes require multiple hits and a final kick to defeat once they are set alight. A secondary screen clearing attack is also available, powered by a scream that affects all on screen enemies.
Progression is aided by collecting various items, such as eggs, health restoratives, and power ups that enhance the fire breath or recharge the scream. Checkpoints within levels are activated by breathing fire on torch markers. The game incorporates a challenging element where certain enemies demand specific attack sequences to be eliminated.
Following each main stage, a bonus round styled after puzzle games offers the chance to earn an additional continue. The enemy roster consists of prehistoric creatures and animals like flies, turtles, toads, and various dinosaur species.
