Phalanx is a futuristic shooter where players control a prototype starfighter of the same name. The craft is piloted by Wink Baufield, a genetically enhanced individual, on a mission to a human research colony in the Andromeda galaxy.
The planet Delia IV has been seized by a powerful alien force, rendering its defenses useless. The objective across eight levels is to reclaim the planet and subsequently launch an assault on the alien invaders themselves. Enemy craft may drop items that allow for weapon upgrades, a common feature in the genre.
