Paladin's Quest Overview
Paladin's Quest is a single-player role-playing game set in the world of Lennus, a land of two continents. The narrative follows Chezni, a student at a magic school founded after a great disaster, who is drawn into a larger conflict after exploring a forbidden tower and awakening an ancient machine named Dal Gren. This discovery occurs against the backdrop of expansion by the southern dictator Zaygos.
Gameplay involves navigating an overhead view of the world and various locations with a party of up to four characters. Combat is initiated through random encounters and presented from a first-person perspective, using a turn-based system for issuing commands. A distinctive magic system requires characters to expend their own hit points to cast spells, with no conventional healing magic or items available in the game.
Health management is instead handled through special bottles some characters possess, which can be refilled in towns to restore hit points. Spellcasting is further defined by eight elemental affinities, with each character showing proficiency in specific elements. These elements can be combined to create new spells, and main characters may learn additional elemental abilities by visiting temples.
