Dark Law: Meaning of Death Overview
Dark Law: Meaning of Death is a Super Nintendo role-playing game where the player forms a party of four characters, including the main hero. The setting is established by a historical conflict between two kingdoms, Reyfore and Amugnon, which ended three centuries prior when King Reynard defeated the pride-corrupted King Daruk. The narrative resumes when the hero, after being rescued from a fall by an old man and his daughter Refia, witnesses Daruk's return as a demonic knight who murders the old man and abducts Refia, setting the hero on a quest for rescue and final confrontation.
Gameplay diverges from typical Japanese RPG linearity by incorporating numerous optional side missions, or scenarios, alongside the central plot. Exploration in towns is handled through menus, while combat occurs directly on the game world screen without a separate battle interface. During these encounters, characters and enemies move and act freely, utilizing melee and ranged attacks governed by an action point system that determines their available moves.
