Mystic Ark Overview
Mystic Ark is a role-playing game where the player controls a protagonist who can be either the knight Remeer or the warrior Ferris. This character is one of seven heroes, each from a separate World, who were petrified and placed in a temple on a distant island. The initial goal involves freeing the other six companions, who include a wizard, a tetsujin, a monk, a ninja, an ogre, and a priestess, from their stone forms.
Gameplay involves navigating an overworld map to reach towns and dungeons. A notable feature is that enemy encounters are not random; foes appear as indicators on a radar, allowing players the option to evade combat if they choose. The turn-based battles are presented from a third-person perspective behind the party.
The central quest requires journeying through all seven Worlds to locate seven mystic arks. An early task sends the party to the Cat World to obtain a specific artifact. Ultimately, collecting these arks is intended to reunite the disparate Worlds and restore balance to the universe. The game shares a close connection with another title, 7th Saga.
