Disney’s Aladdin Overview
Disney's Aladdin for the SNES is a side-scrolling platformer developed by Virgin, directly adapting the 1992 animated film. Players guide the character through environments taken from the movie, including Agrabah's urban areas, the Cave of Wonders, and the Sultan's dungeon, culminating in a showdown at Jafar's palace.
Opposition comes from palace guards and desert creatures. For defense, Aladdin can use a sword or throw collected apples. The game features a system where gathered gems can be exchanged with a traveling merchant for additional lives and continues, affecting the overall fair challenge.
Special Genie and Abu icons trigger distinct bonus stages. One is a luck-based game offering rewards like apples, gems, or lives, while the other has the player controlling Abu to catch falling items while avoiding obstacles. The visual presentation benefits from animation work provided by Walt Disney Feature Animation.
