Der Langrisser is a revised edition of Langrisser II, offering a more fair experience through adjusted difficulty and visual refinements. The central addition is a narrative system where player choices determine the protagonist's allegiance.
While beginning on the side of the Descendants of Light, the player can direct Elwin to join the opposing Rayguard Empire. Further decisions allow for a betrayal of the Empire to ally with the Demon Tribe, or even to forge an independent path separate from all major factions. This branching structure significantly alters the story's events compared to the original version.
