Twin Hawk is a vertical scrolling shooter viewed from above. The player controls a plane equipped with a standard gun, tasked with eliminating enemy forces throughout the course of the game.
Rather than deploying bombs, the player can summon allied aircraft that form a protective squadron and assist in combat. The means to call these helpers, along with other enhancements, are obtained as power-ups. These items are released from specific enemy transport vehicles that must be destroyed.
Acquiring power-ups provides several key advantages. One type improves the primary weapon for a broader and more potent attack. Another increases the capacity to summon the supporting formation of planes, while a third grants additional lives to the player.
