The Ottifants Overview
The Ottifants is a side-scrolling platform game for the Sega Game Gear. Players control Bruno, a young Ottifant who embarks on a rescue mission after imagining his father has been taken by aliens. His journey progresses through five distinct worlds, each containing three stages, beginning in his house and culminating in a jungle.
Bruno attacks enemies by firing sweets from his trunk, which can also suck in certain objects. Collecting three lollies of specific colors grants temporary special abilities, such as flight or increased speed. Points are earned by gathering jelly babies, defeating enemies, and collecting papers, with a maximum score of 9,999 points.
The game features hidden secret rooms, though these are simpler and offer no point reward, unlike in the Genesis version. Only two background music tracks are present, one for regular stages and another for boss encounters. Notably, this version lacks the Garden world and the more varied audio found in the Genesis release.
