Super Hang-On Overview
Super Hang-On is a motorcycle racing game where the player's primary objective is to complete track segments before a timer expires. The perspective is a fixed two-dimensional view from behind the bike, with steering handled by left and right inputs while up and down control the gear shift. Speed is directly tied to the selected gear, though collisions or leaving the roadway will reduce velocity.
Other riders on the course function primarily as moving hazards, as overtaking them is not a core requirement for progression. The game's structure divides its world tour into continental regions, each representing a distinct difficulty tier: Africa is easy, Asia is fair, the Americas are challenging, and Europe is expert-level.
An expanded "Original mode" on the Sega Genesis introduces management elements, including hiring a mechanic and upgrading the motorcycle through participation in racing tournaments. This mode supports password-based progression to save the player's status between sessions.
