Street Smart Overview
Street Smart is a fighting game originally released for arcades and later ported to the Sega Genesis. The player controls a character known as Karate Man, who journeys nationally to compete in a tournament called the Tag Championship.
Gameplay occurs in a side view within a confined arena, where movement is possible in multiple directions but restricted by environmental boundaries like spectators. Combat involves a series of eight distinct opponents, each more challenging than the last, defeated using standard attacks such as punches, kicks, and jumps.
The Sega Genesis version introduced several modifications not found in other releases. A betting system allows players to wager on fight outcomes, with winnings used to permanently improve their character's abilities. This port also added a versus mode for two players and a special attack that consumes a portion of the user's health.
While the arcade original included a cooperative two player option, this feature was absent in the subsequent PlayStation Mini re release.
