Shining Force is a tactical role-playing game set in the world of Rune. A millennium ago, a conflict saw the dark entity known as Dark Dragon banished to another dimension, with a prophecy of its eventual return.
That threat materializes as the kingdom of Runefaust launches invasions to facilitate Dark Dragon's comeback. To counter this, a protagonist gathers a group of warriors, each with distinct capabilities, to embark on a journey against these forces.
Gameplay involves navigating the land and engaging in tactical combat. Characters develop by acquiring improved equipment and learning new spells as the adventure progresses.
