RoboCop versus The Terminator Overview
RoboCop versus The Terminator for the Sega Genesis is a platform shooting game that takes a loose approach to its comic book source material. Its narrative spans two distinct time periods, beginning with the cyborg lawman in present-day Detroit before shifting to a machine-dominated future.
Players navigate ten levels, each concluding with a significant boss encounter. These adversaries range from Terminators and armored vehicles to robotic foes like ED-209. The opposition varies by setting, with criminals in the initial stages giving way to automated defenses and robotic creatures later on.
Gameplay revolves around acquiring and using an arsenal of eight distinct weapons, though RoboCop can only hold two at any time. While ammunition is unlimited, death results in the loss of the currently selected firearm. Beyond straightforward progression, certain stages include secondary objectives such as rescuing hostages or eliminating surveillance systems.
The plot is triggered when Terminators from the future draw RoboCop into a trap during his Detroit patrols. His subsequent integration into a computer network inadvertently provides the core for Skynet's development. Reactivated in the post-apocalyptic era, his mission becomes aiding the human resistance to destroy this system permanently.
