PowerMonger Overview
PowerMonger is a strategy game where the player assumes the role of a warlord seeking to conquer a world divided into nearly two hundred territories. This objective is shared by rival leaders within the game, creating a competitive environment for dominance.
The experience builds upon a foundation established by Populous, but shifts the focus to warfare and territorial expansion. Progression involves a combination of strategic elements including trade relations, diplomatic maneuvers, technological development, and aggressive military campaigns that can employ tactics like scorched earth.
Technically, the game world is rendered using polygons, which allows the player to rotate and pan the camera with more flexibility than its predecessor. Certain versions of the game also support direct competition between two players via a modem connection.
