Champions World Class Soccer Overview
Champions World Class Soccer is a soccer simulation for the Sega Genesis featuring thirty two national teams. The presentation uses a third person side view with a slight tilt, and teams are defined by statistical ratings for speed, offense, and defense rather than individual player names.
Match options include single exhibition games, a full tournament mode, and a two player exhibition. Before a match, players can select from different team formations. Core controls are limited to passing, shooting, and tackling, with an additional button used to switch which athlete is being controlled.
Several rules and display elements can be adjusted through an options menu. This includes the ability to turn fouls and offside calls on or off, set the half length, and enable a radar or mini map to track player positions on the field. Tournament progress is saved using a password system. The European release of the game carries an endorsement from footballer Ryan Giggs.
