Mario Lemieux Hockey Overview
Mario Lemieux Hockey is a sports simulation for the Sega Genesis featuring fictional teams based on NHL cities. Players can adjust the game's challenge through three skill settings and select from four different period lengths. The referee's behavior is also customizable, with options to set them as blind, fair, or tough, directly influencing how often infractions are called.
Its primary modes include an exhibition for single matches and a tournament where elimination follows a loss. A dedicated shootout mode has teams alternating penalty shots to determine a winner by total goals. Separately, a fight mode simulates player brawls where combatants deplete each other's energy bars, a feature that also serves as practice for in-game fights which result in penalties.
