Wheel of Fortune Junior Edition adapts the television game show for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The core activity involves uncovering hidden words by selecting letters, with puzzles designed to be easy for younger players.
Participants spin a virtual wheel to determine a monetary value before guessing a consonant. Correct guesses award that value multiplied by how many times the letter appears, while certain wheel spaces can eliminate a player's earnings. Vowels cannot be guessed freely but must be bought with a player's accumulated cash.
The software supports competitive play for up to three human participants. It also includes the option to face computer controlled opponents, which can be set to one of three distinct difficulty levels.
