Black Onyx is a Japanese role-playing game where players lead a custom party into a three-dimensional dungeon. The objective is to locate a fabled artifact within a structure known as the Black Tower, which is said to be near the town of Utsuro.
Gameplay involves navigating maze-like environments and engaging in turn-based combat against monsters. The party, which can have up to five members, can be expanded by recruiting other adventurers encountered during the exploration. Its systems and visual style are comparable to early titles in the Wizardry and Ultima series.
